resolutions

Well, it's another new year...

So, what the heck - why not jump on the bandwagon & make a few resolutions. I learned in my psychology classes if you make a public commitment, you're more likely to follow through. Well, let's give this a try; hold me accountable.

1. I will have quiet time each day & spend time in His word.

2. I'll only drink one coffee a day. One.

3. I will not hit snooze. When my alarm goes off, my feet'll hit the floor.

4. I will do something to exercise each day.

5. And here's one the boyfriend will be excited about: I'm not going to get so hung-up on the little things.

I'm a quotes person. I just love reading a quote or a Bible verse & thinking about how it applies to my life, or finding a take-away. So, I figured I'd leave you a few to consider for this 13th year in the 21st century.

merry christmas

Just wanted to share...

a little sweet something with you from a dear sister at Western Kentucky.

And remember, Jesus is the reason for the season. I don't know about you, but I sure am thankful God loves us all enough to have given us His only son many, many, many years ago.

"Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom His favor rests." Luke 2:14

a lost generation

"This generation thinks they're so entitled..."

I was given my first cell phone my freshman year of high school, a new car when I was 16, and an iPad when I graduated from college. So, okay - I can see why people say that, especially when I think about my special Grandpa who, to this day, never ever leaves any food on his plate & scolds me when I do because he knows what it's like to live through the Great Depression with five brothers and three sisters; his momma had so little to spend on groceries each week, and sometimes, she'd have to put some groceries back just to sneak them one candy bar to share amongst the nine of them. To this day, when he talks about his momma, you'd think he was talking about a queen. He loves that lady. When I sit here and think about it all, I feel disgustingly spoiled.

With everything that's been in the news recently, it's safe to say something's gotta give. When I applied to be a Leadership Consultant, the essay I wrote about why I wanted this job was all about empowerment. Throughout my whole life, people have empowered me to make a difference, and so now, it's my turn to empower others it's our turn, as the so-called entitled generation, to hold each other accountable.

Consider this your call-to-action:

Now, go do something & make a difference in this world, be the positive change our country is screaming for, or better yet

refuse to be part of a lost generation.

christmas in july

If you know me...

You know I absolutely love Christmas (It's bad - I play & sing Christmas music year round.). Nothing can ever be better than the real Christmas. But, you know what is a close second?

first day in the ATL

I was the very first one to arrive here in HOTlanta, but it did not take long to be surrounded by suitcases, 26 suitcases + 9 purses to be exact. Yep - I know what you're thinking. How in the world did they get all of that to Executive Office? Well, we'll leave out the minor details, but let's just say we made it work (in two cars).

After lugging our suitcases up the stairs & snacking on some peanut M&Ms, we headed to the Training Room to get down to business. What business? See the pic below.

ah! azure blue pipad case, my own ritual book, plus tons of other goodies!
Can you believe it?! Again. I am so blessed. And, check this out:

yes. this is real.
Ah! I'm officially official! Only catch is my phone number is wrong on all of my business cards. No worries though; they'll be fixed.

I have had the best time here at Executive Office so far. The Pi Kappa Phi LCs came for a fun mixer, I've been to a tapas restaurant (It's great - you order a bunch of little appetizers & taste it all!), and learned how to make sock buns! Don't fret though... I'm learning anything & everything ADPi, too. Promise.

Here's my fave quote so far:

"You don't have to read my ritual because you can see it in the way I live my life every single day."

daily dose of motivation

Give a girl sorority...

and she'll want to change the world. (Well, that's what this girl wants to do) Seeing 100s of Alpha Delts gather in one place for Adelphean Compass, our summer pick-me-up (it's really a meeting, but who likes to call it that?), for one purpose: learn how to lead with self, vision, action, and relationships was incredible. In fact, as I sat there with my consultant name tag around my neck, it made me think to myself:

Lord, thank you for blessing me with this job.

Because let me tell ya what, without Him, I wouldn't have it. And, let me tell ya something else: Alpha Delta Pi's are unstoppable. The thoughts and ideas this group of  advisors & collegians have for the future of their chapters & the future of this sorority was impressive amazing visionary.

Here are just a few quotables from the weekend worth taking a sec to ponder:

"No leader can lead in isolation."
Mrs. Beth Gentry Mannle, Beta Beta, former Grand President

"Encourage someone in their story,
no matter what their story may be."
Mrs. Tracy Kerr Carson, Eta Xi

And my personal fave from the weekend -

"Don't hold anyone to a standard that
God does not hold you to."
Ali, Theta Kappa

See what I mean? With women in our sorority who think like this, how can we be stopped? We can't.

Consider this post your daily dose of motivation.
Now, get up & do something great.
